The Chicago Giving Circle (CGC) is proud to announce its selection of and partnership with two nonprofits, Chicago HOPES for Kids and The Dovetail Project. These nonprofits were selected from a competitive pool of over 60 organizations, all working to improve the well-being, stability, and quality of life for Chicago-area families. Chicago HOPES for Kids and The Dovetail Project will each receive $300,000 over three years to support their programming and growth.
Founded in 2021, CGC is a group of 15 service-oriented families who pool their philanthropic resources to make meaningful contributions to promising, growth-stage Chicago-area nonprofits. Grantees are selected based on their programmatic impact, strong organizational leadership, financial sustainability, and opportunity to scale and serve more individuals. Further, grantees must also exhibit an entrepreneurial, innovative approach to their work. In addition to funding, Chicago HOPES for Kids and The Dovetail Project will receive partnership and support from CGC members, as appropriate/needed, in strategic planning, networking and connection building, volunteering, and providing expertise.
“We are excited to join forces with Chicago HOPES for Kids and The Dovetail Project in their tremendous efforts to support, empower, and strengthen Chicago families. All CGC members are dedicated to partnering with and supporting innovative nonprofits and social entrepreneurs. They have each experienced their own successes in Chicago and look for meaningful ways to give back to the city that has given them so much and has so much to offer,” said Julie Hoffmann, Executive Director at CGC.
“We are so grateful to team up with The Chicago Giving Circle to strengthen our impact on young fathers. The population we serve is so vulnerable: young dads 17-24 yearn for guidance, but resources for fathers are limited, and sustained funding for fatherhood organizations is uncommon. A gift of this magnitude for an organization serving our population is rare, and over the next three years, it will give us the opportunity to strengthen our capacity to serve fathers and families for years to come,” Sheldon Smith, Founder and Executive Director of The Dovetail Project.
“Chicago HOPES for Kids is excited to begin this new partnership with CGC. Working together, we will be able to help more children and families experiencing homelessness in Chicago with a wide range of services,” stated Kasandra Newsome, Family Engagement Administrator for Chicago HOPES for Kids.
Both organizations’ passion and dedication to supporting and uplifting Chicago families align seamlessly with CGC’s commitment to helping Chicago flourish, and together, they are poised to create a more robust and thriving city for all.
