The Chicago Giving Circle (CGC) is a group of service-oriented individuals and families pooling their philanthropic resources to make meaningful contributions to Chicago-area nonprofits. The group was born out of the desire to:
- Better mobilize charitable dollars
- Proactively help Chicago-based nonprofits
- Engage with other philanthropically minded people
- Involve the next generation in philanthropy
The group brings a mix of seriousness and fun to the work. CGC's annual grantmaking process is not only critically thought-out, but nonprofit-centered. We are committed to transparency in our grantmaking while also recognizing the power dynamic between funders and grantees. At the same time, we understand the social aspect of the group and are committed to volunteering, when appropriate, with our grantees and engaging in learning opportunities regarding our annual focus area.
